Lines in the landscape
2015 / Falkner Gallery, Castlemaine, Victoria
Our relationship with the landscape is defined by constant movement. By moving through the landscape we leave a trace that marks the earth’s rich surface. The restless pattern of light and weather changes the land’s form before us, as surely as rounding a corner changes the view.
It is these moments and marks of change, some instant, some gradual, which draw my focus as I move through the local landscape, and that I describe in my work. Moving around a bowl it is possible to create change and to experience change, allowing for the play of light and the surprise of a corner.
